Press Release: Natalia, Duchess of Westminster donates to Wallsend based Charity
Published: 08.01.2026 – For Immediate Release
Tyneside charity Family Gateway, who manage Howdon Community Hub, have received a
personal donation from Natalia, Duchess of Westminster, administered by the Westminster
Foundation. In the first week of December, after meeting senior staff from Family Gateway at an
event in London, Natalia, Duchess of Westminster made an incredibly kind contribution of
£10,000 to be spent directly on funding front line work including Youth Clubs and Family
Support work.
She met Family Gateway at an awards ceremony hosted by The Centre for Social Justice, who
shortlisted Family Gateway as one of the 12 finalists in their 2025 awards. Her Grace is a long-
time supporter of The Centre for Social Justice, and the Westminster Foundation funds
organisations that generate localised impact and create opportunities for children and young
people up to 25 years old.
The funds will bolster Howdon Youth zone, an open doors youth club which hosts between 60
and 100 young people a week in the centre of Howdon. Since the start of the club, local police
have reported an 18% drop in reported cases of antisocial behaviour in the area. Alongside this,
funds will be put towards Family Gateway’s long running family support work, where they have
over 15 years of experience helping families to overcome barriers to success and improving
their ability to grab opportunities for their children.
A member of Family Gateway’s staff, who works delivering Howdon Youth Zone, said:
“Donations like this allow us to focus on why we’re here: doing our best by the kids and their
families. As funding becomes harder for charities to find, donations from individuals play an
even bigger part in allowing us to stay open and providing vital services for people of all ages.”
